Social Phobia
Social Anxiety commonly known as social phobia is a kind of anxiety problem. Too much of self-consciousness and extreme shyness create an irrational fear.
This anxiety problem is called as social phobia. Social phobia prevents a person from participating in day to day social activities.
A socio phobic does not have any problem to interact with his friends and family members. But what makes them difficult is to meet new people, address in front of a gathering, or talking in group etc as extreme shyness resist them from doing so.
Despite of being involved and get enjoyed by social activities, people with social phobia tries to avoid them at any cost. They are scared of being noted by others and they couldn’t even imagine what others might think of them. The main reason is that they don’t want others to tease them. Due to this fear only they try to skip of all kind of social interactions.
It is normal for anyone to feel shyness, nervousness, anxiety, self-conscious etc in front of others. But we try to manage/overcome it in the future. While for some people, due to their anxiety, extreme shyness and nervousness they find hard to manage. These persons are called socio phobic. Such persons find hard to answer in a crowd and may not be able to make eye contact while talking. They try to avoid talking with new persons.
A person with social phobia is mainly concerned about his social performance. Whatever is the social activity whether it is a small talk or an important decision, a kind of embarrassment encircle them. They will be always uncomfortable thinking of what others might think of them. They don’t want them to be noticed or judged by the fellow people
They hate others teasing them and are more sensitive to fear. We can easily find out a person with social phobia. They seem to be always embarrassed, frequently make mistake, look foolish, or be laughed at. Nobody wants to experience such things. Majority of the people do not take such experiences seriously and they do not even have time to worry on such incidents, whereas a social phobic will be always worried about such things.
Impact of Social Phobia in One’s Life
A socio phobic person may be always disappointed thinking of his lost opportunities. He may be worried of the new friendship which he missed. A student will be the one who suffers mainly due to this problem. Because of his irrational fear he may not be able to answer in the class, clarify his doubts with the teacher etc. Such students will be always backward in his studies. A socio phobic person may not be able to show off his talents to others and more over he cannot learn any new skills.
How to overcome this problem?
Anyone can be affected by social phobia. Treatment for social phobia needs patience, the guts to face and try new things, will power to remain brave etc. Step by step only you can achieve this. Try to implant confidence and positive attitude in you which is the platform for removing social phobia.
